For the past three years, a small group of actors and actresses from Benton High School has entertained pre-schoolers from Bossier Parish Children’s Librarian Lucille Marabella’s Wednesday 10 o’clock Story Hour by performing the play called “Piggie Pie” for them. The performance has become a tradition.

On Wednesday, October 20, the “Tiger Players” from Benton High teacher Linda Robinson’s Theatre Class performed “Piggie Pie” to the delight of the pre-school audience at the Central Bossier Parish Library. The Story Hour members watched as a Grinch, played by Morgann Hutchinson, searched for “eight plump piggies” for her piggie pie. On her search, she met a ballerina (Cierra Brooks), a lion (Tyler Clifford), and a herd of piggies (Kalvin Bell, Julie Brown, Jennifer Clark, Luke Digilormo, Sckye Hansen, Geoffrey Jenkins, Delishia Johnson, Cody Jones, Brandie Joplin, Christian Langley, Ashley Martin, Tabitha McCartney, Bruce McLemore, Lexi Miller, Statia Pennywell, Ieshia Player, Bridgitte Rankin, Nick Smith, and Nicole Tharp) who pretended to be a brace of ducks, a herd of cows, and a flock of chickens. The Grinch also met a wolf (Ben Stoddard), and even Old MacDonald himself (Kyndal Moore). The narrator for the story was Olivia Smith. The set, costumes and props were created by the Benton Theatre students and brought to the library for the production. Other students supporting the performance backstage included Keith Michon, Jordan Stephens, and Michelle Young.

After the performance, the pre-schoolers and the teen-agers talked and the younger ones tried on the performers’ costumes and had their pictures made with the actors.

Bossier Parish Library Director Delbert Terry and Assistant Director Heather McEntee also attended Wednesday’s performance.
